
Jaana Leikas
Dr Leikas is Principal Scientist at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd. She holds an appointment as Adjunct Professor in Cognitive Science at Jyväskylä University. She is responsible for leading research and customer projects in technology ethics, responsible innovation and foresight. In this context, she is particularly interested in how emerging technologies can best serve the society as well as the quality of life and changing life goals of citizens, especially into advanced age. She has long track record in human-driven design thinking as well as social evolution and acceptance of technology, and has participated extensively in national expert groups for e.g. various ministries. Current research includes study on ethics and acceptability of AI and software robotics (for the Prime Minister’s Office) and research on the changing role of public authority and the potential for steering society (for the Strategic Research Council at the Academy of Finland). Dr. Leikas is a member of the board of the International Society for Gerontechnology.
